Two generations of passion
Founded by Fernand and Rose-Marie Cina, the estate has been run for more than thirty years by their sons. Manfred, director and oenologist, has a soft spot for Pinot Noir and Petite Arvine; Damian, technical director, for Fendant and Pinot Noir. Both grew up in the vineyards, and vineyard work remains the heart of their year: 95 % of the grapes come from their own plots.
The Salgesch terroir
Sheltered by the Alps and swept by the föhn wind, Salgesch enjoys a steppe climate: little rain and more sunshine than even Ticino. Around 15,000 years ago a huge landslide crushed the limestone and mixed it with Rhône alluvium – a poor soil of limestone, schist, marl and sand, ideal for vines.
The wines
Cornalin “Clos du Cornalin”
The estate's signature wine. The 2020 vintage won the most prestigious gold medal at the Expovina Wine Trophy in Zurich, with 93.4 points.
Pinot Noir
The Cina brothers' favourite grape, on the limestone soils of Salgesch.
Petite Arvine
The great Valais white, lively and saline.
Fendant
Valais Chasselas, fresh and convivial.
